We aim to meet or beat specifications

Double plus: Market share growth from improved performance and better price

Challenge:

An agricultural component supplier had become increasingly dissatisfied with the continual price increases and limited item performance (wear) from their current component supplier

Glenmar:

Our engineers redesigned the item to exceed the customer’s specifications, delivering a double benefit to the customer by providing increased part performance and improving the price point.

Outcome:

This supported the customer penetration of the market and business growth.

Redesign resolves lightweight issues to maintain part performance

Challenge:

An agricultural equipment manufacturer had redesigned an assembly but found that the reduced weight of the components meant that the machining no longer performed as marketed and required.

Glenmar:

Our engineers designed a weight that met the tight weight and size needs while achieving the visual requirements, which then allowed our client’s machine to perform as needed.

Outcome:

The resulting part functions as required and to specification

Glenmar beats previous supplier with higher quality and on-time delivery

Challenge:

A long-standing customer was experiencing low quality components, late delivery and poor customer service from their current supplier.

Glenmar:

We evaluated the requirements and designed an enhanced pouring system for the items. In addition, the machining needs were analyzed and enhanced methods were developed for the machining of the items.

Outcome:

The result is high quality parts, to specification and delivered on time to the client and meeting their supply needs.

Triple win: ‘Castability’, strength and lower cost

Challenge:

An existing client sent drawings for a new product to be used in an automotive assembly application. Strength and dimensional adherence was paramount for the item.

Glenmar:

After a careful and thorough review of the drawings, our engineers made a series of design recommendations, which increased the “castability” of the item while maintaining the inherent strength of the item. The added benefit of these changes was a reduction in weight, which reduced the machining requirements and also the cost of the item.

Outcome:

The client will receive items that meet the application and have high integrity while being supplied at a price better than the stated target.

Quote and sample from drawings achieve better look and lower price

Challenge:

A new client gave Glenmar an opportunity to quote on items currently manufactured as fabrications. The client wanted to reduce the price of the item and explore manufacturing options.

Glenmar:

Glenmar engineers reviewed the drawings and then suggested that the items could be cast providing an item that was more aesthetically appealing but also at a more competitive price. Suggestions were made and accepted for material and design improvements, which were achieved from the change to castings.

Outcome:

The items will now provide a point of difference for the client at a more competitive price. This will allow the client to expand their market.

Product porosity benefit achieved at lower cost

Challenge:

A customer with a quality issue asked us whether we would be able to fix the porosity issue and make the part for them.

Glenmar:

We created a 3D model from the 2D drawings supplied and developed a pouring system using Magma. The tooling was manufactured with the proposed pouring system, the samples were poured, x-rayed and then machined to validate the pouring system to enable quality production parts to be supplied to our customer.

Outcome:

The items now provide a point of difference for the customer at a more competitive price, and enable the customer to expand their market.
